Brijesta and Pelješac – The Hidden Adriatic Gem You Must Visit

Pelješac – A Peninsula That Takes Your Breath Away

Imagine a peninsula where mountains plunge dramatically into the sea, where vineyards produce some of the world's most celebrated wines, where fishermen deliver the morning's catch straight to your table. That is Pelješac – and once you visit, it is nearly impossible to forget.

Stretching between Neum and Ston, Pelješac has long been kept a secret. No mass tourism, no crowds – just an abundance of what Dalmatia has always offered: clean air, turquoise water, and the warmth of local people.

Brijesta – Silence by the Sea

At the very heart of the peninsula, hidden from main roads, lies Brijesta. A small, peaceful village where the rhythm of life slows down and nature takes over. Mussel and oyster beds stretch before your eyes, and the view of the sea never grows old.

Right here in Brijesta stands Konoba Feral – a family restaurant that has been preserving the traditions of Pelješac and Dubrovnik cuisine since 2005. Tomislav and Ana Božović welcome guests with love and pride, offering authentic flavours found nowhere else.

What to Eat on Pelješac?

Pelješac is a paradise for seafood lovers. Ston oysters are among the world's most prized – cultivated in the clean waters of Mali Ston Bay for over 2,000 years. Alongside oysters, mussels, scallops and fresh fish cooked under a peka lid are essential.

  • Under the peka – a traditional Dalmatian slow-cooking method under embers that gives meat and fish a uniquely deep flavour
  • Fresh shellfish – straight from the Pelješac sea, uncompromising in freshness
  • Plavac Mali – the indigenous Pelješac red grape variety, robust and intense, perfect alongside red meat
  • Pošip – a white wine from the island of Korčula, crystal-clear and aromatic, ideal with seafood

Why Visit Konoba Feral?

There are restaurants that serve food – and there are places that tell stories. Konoba Feral is the latter. Every dish is prepared from homegrown ingredients: fish caught in Pelješac waters, shellfish from their own beds, vegetables from the family garden, and first-press olive oil.

Grandfather's boat goes fishing every morning. Grandmother's hands have kneaded dough for generations. And that spirit – of devoted care and love of food – is felt in every bite.

"Cooking is not just about ingredients – it is about honouring the land, the sea, and the people who bring them to your table."

How to Reach Brijesta?

Brijesta is located on Pelješac, approximately 60 km from Dubrovnik and 20 km from Ston. The nearest motorway exit (A1) is at Ston. From there, a 20-minute drive through vineyards and olive groves awaits – and the drive itself is worth the trip.

Konoba Feral is at Brijesta 18, 20246 Janjina, open daily from 12:00 to 21:00. A table reservation is highly recommended, especially in summer.
