Olive Oil from Pelješac: Liquid Gold from Stone Terraces
There is a difference between olive oil bought in a supermarket and oil that someone pressed in October, brought home and put on the table. The difference is so great they almost seem like two different products.
On Pelješac, olives grow on stone terraces built by hand through generations. High above the sea, exposed to the bura wind and Mediterranean sun, these olives develop an aromaticity and sharpness impossible in lowland plantations.
Olive Varieties on Pelješac
- Lastovka – native variety, produces intensely green-flavoured oil with a light bitterness
- Levantinka – milder variety, softer and more aromatic
- Oblica – most widespread in Dalmatia, golden-green oil
Olive Oil in Konoba Feral's Kitchen
At Konoba Feral we use exclusively local olive oil – directly from small family producers on Pelješac. It goes into every dish: from salads to peka, from fish marinades to drizzling over fresh oysters.
When you dip bread and drizzle olive oil on it our way – you'll understand why we call it liquid gold.
"Good olive oil doesn't improve a dish. It is the dish."
